Title: follow me!

Artist Statement:

When I was in second grade, my art teacher had my class close our eyes and listen to a piece of a soundtrack. She then had us draw out what sort of movie scene we imagined would go along to that soundtrack. I remember I drew a man quickly climbing up a tree that seemed to be endlessly tall. None of the other kids drew exactly what I drew, but we all drew something similar: some drew a man running through a forest, others a princess lifting up her skirt as she hurried through a castle. This showed me just how effective music and sounds can be when trying to paint a picture.

My initial goal when creating this piece was to transform household sounds into something unrecognizable and cohesive as a whole piece through using the Audition software to the full extent of my ability. I also was aiming to paint a picture, just as my art teacher did in second grade, that everyone could imagine their own scene or story to. Hopefully this story would be scary, or a scene in a thriller. After reading through critiques I received, I believe I (for the most part) achieved this.

I was surprised by how sounds can be transformed simply by combing them and overlapping them. If I had to do this project again, I would definitely take more time to add even more sounds to create a more unique soundscape.
