My goal is to create a single-page zine that is designed like a coupon book. Instead of folding it the traditional way I want the pages to be more “coupon-shaped,” so I’m planning on having to cut the pages to have the binding be on the shorter side rather than the longer side (see image) and staple them together to attach them. Each square will be 4.25 in x 2.75 in. I may add additional pages (instead of just having 8) depending on how busy I am before the due date. Although I will have to incorporate a significant amount of text (don’t worry, it will be valuable to the design and theme of the zine), each coupon will be mostly images that will communicate a sense of slight absurdity, humor, and surrealism in each coupon. They will not look like the example images, I am just using those as inspiration for humor. I am planning on looking up traditional coupons or finding one of the coupon books scattered across campus for inspiration. I also want to include a faux-perforated line a half/quarter inch away from the inside binding of the book to drive home the coupon concept (see image). Barcodes should be included.
