Light Pollution Brainstorm Blog
I knew I wanted my final project to discuss consumerism in some way. The hoidays always elicit some an uptick in consumerism, kicked off by Black Friday and cntinuing seemingly until the new year. However this year, with the semingly exponential gowth of buying culture and inability to exist on the internet without the constant inendation of salespeople camoflauged as influencers or internet personalities, it feels as if every day closer to Christmas exists as a ticking pressure bomb to Shop! Shop! Shop! The more I doom scroll the less I am able to see the humor I go to Tik To for or aethetically pleasing images I find escape in on Instagram or Pinterest. Instead, it seems every face I come across is shoving an affliate code in my digital face or is offering me a "gift guide" for every imaginable miniscule figurre in my life. These gift guides have grown so obscure, so unnecessary, and so goddamn expensive that I figured they would be the most indictive subject for my holiday consumerism theme. However, I have yet to figure out the performance aspect I can incorporate into this idea. I'm sure it will come to me as I compile my videos.
